Taste of (DE-FI)
On Friday Jan.3,2014, the Dayton Emerging Fashion Incubator (DE-FI) LLC hosted the first ever Taste of (DE-FI)ance that paired one of Dayton's most popular Chef's Anthony Head with 3 of (DE-FI)'s designers Brenda Marone of B. Marie, Misti Leigh of iii Designs (pronounced third eye), and Sonya Mills of Kerapa Klothing to produce a one of a kind fashion and food experience!!
The premise of the event was to take the origin of the fabrics used in the design itself along with the concept or theme of the collection and Chef Head then created a unique menu that not only matched the color pallets used in the design, the origin of the fabric but also foods that match the texture of the design.
The menu consisted of Orange Duck Tart with Blood Orange Sauce, Roasted Tomato Soup Shooters with Maldon Salted Rim, Black Bean Salsa with Hawaiian Black Sea Salt and Cream Cheese Canape for Brenda Marone's Runway Show. The second course was inspired by Marie Antoinette and consisted of Smoked Salmon En Croute, Dauphinoise Potatot Garnished with Fig andd Balsamic Reduction, Savory Lemon Dill White Cream Sauce for Misti Leigh's collections. And for desert, we topped off the show with a colorful collection by designer Sonya Mills for dessert that consisted of Key Lime tart with Blueberry Reduction, Moscato Cupcake with raspberry Foam, Quadruple Chocolate Turtle Brownies with Mesquite Smoked Almonds.
