The fashion and design industries have been hit the hardest by all of the uncertainty. surrounding COVID-19. While we’ve experienced a few bumps in the road this year, we’re still going strong because we took our time and focused on quality while building our brand on a solid foundation. And now…#TheNextLevelIsHere. Building on our success, while factoring in the feedback of our community over the past year, we are proud to introduce the House of (DE-FI)ance: A Fashion & Design Co-working Experience, opening in January 2021 inside of the Dayton Mall located 2700 Miamisburg Centerville Rd Ste 360 and 368, Dayton, OH 45459.
Since our launch in 2013, (DE-FI) has always focused on the industry as a whole. We’ve assisted with garment production, Business of Fashion workshops, Runway Experience production, editorials and so much more. We expanded our services over the past 2 years and assigned branded names to each with services exclusive only to (DE-FI) talent. Now, we’re ready to to bring it all to fashion and design talent from across the nation with direct outreach to Dayton and the Midwest talent.
The House of (DE-FI)ance: A Fashion & Design Co-working Experiences revises and broadens our mission by developing new and consistent programming that reflects our next stage for growth and service to the local and regional design and creative communities.
By strengthening our Garment District and revitalizing our retail and manufacturing communities, the House of (DE-FI)ance brings the entire fashion and design industry under one roof, while growing Dayton and the Midwest’s impact and influence. The House of (DE-FI)ance serves as a fashion and design retail and educational hub for the fashion and design community, as well as a catalyst for attracting full-scale garment manufacturing and production to throughout the Dayton and Miami Valley areas
Dayton Threads is the home for Independent Fashion and Design. You’ll find clothing, shoes, accessories, homeware goods, and beauty products that are handmade or sewn by artisan teams of 10 people or less that are paid for their services. Nothing sold at Dayton Threads can be a product of mass production, unless it was repurposed- for example, if you purchased a shirt at a big chain store or a local thrift shop a few years ago that you no longer wear or doesn’t fit, you’ve altered it and now it’s a dress or a skirt or if you refurbished an old chair; these are examples of items will be accepted.
All products must be made in the USA and we are asking designers to take a pledge to committing to move towards their line being 100% ethically sourced, sustainable and slave free in 3 years…we will be tracking. You do not need to be from Dayton or live in Dayton to sell your designs or products via Dayton Threads. All designs and products will also be available for purchase on our website. Vendor products will not be accepted.
Dayton Threads will also work in conjunction with The House of (DE-FI)ance: A Fashion & Design Co-working Experience and represents Phase III of the fashion and design process; the tangible product. Micro-manufacturing services of 50 pieces or less and prototyping will be offered in Phase II of The House of (DE-FI)ance. Designers selling in Dayton Threads will have the option of using the services of the Dayton Garment And Textile District to assist with the production of their designs, or they can bring their own team in and use the equipment in Phase II, they can also bring their own equipment in and simply make use of the space to produce their designs for Dayton Threads or other boutiques or clients that you are selling your work.
